My journey into to the land of brollies

Little did I know that I will be spending some serious dosh on folding brollies this week.
I started the week with a broken brolly coming into work, and it was so upsetting. I just mentioned to a work mate that I am bound to have a horrible week, the brolly I bought in America for £3.00 just broke. Then he told me how he went to a shop in Holborn called James Smith & Co and bought an umbrella 20 years ago called knirps, he said t was expensive though.
He lost it after 10 years of use and went back and bought the same type of brolly and he has been using it since for 10 years. My head went into a spin cos in 20 years, I must have bought over 10 umbrellas, the last one left me almost half-wet all the time I've used it.
Now I have forked out £60.00 and I am hoping for a 15 year usage. At £4.00 a year, it's still expensive, but if it does not break or fall apart, it is well worth the money.
This one has a diameter of 120cm.

Now I am praying a bit for some heavy rain so I can get my kit out.

A friend came in from the cold

My friend has been in town for about 2 weeks. I remember 2 months ago, when I went looking for his family in Kent, just could not find the place where she was staying and got really frustrated and angry and went home.

His first week, he just stayed for about 3 days in London then left for the USA, went to Atlanta, Tampa and Kansas for a business trip. His Sister J lives in Tampa, Atlanta was for rest and Kansas was business. He looks young as ever, I told him I am now looking my age, and he kind of agrees with me. He did say though that he's been dying his hair black. I did not notice until he told me.

He is trying to convince me to invest in properties in Abuja. he has just built a N22 million bungalow and has already collected N4 million - first year rent alone. He said that pays his daughter's school fees which is costing £10,000.00 a year. I told him he will collect his investment in 6 years time and still have the property standing.

I am still thinking about investment back in Nigeria, the country frightens me.

I did promise to visit Nigeria sometime soon. For real, I do miss home, and the longing does not go away - I wonder why that is.

Dreading the cost of my Easter holiday next year - 3 banks have turned down my credit card application - Now, I start to realise the effect of the recession on my finances. The Banker was trying to sell me some home insurance after the decline; these bankers where do they get them from.

Leo Cassidy - My dear old friend

One of my good friends was buried today. It was sad attending his ceremony. I shed some tears for a friendship that was never given the chance to blossom. Leo had been sick for some time but we all thought that he was going to make it. He had that strong irish believe and pride about him.

He would have been 78 years old today, instead he was being cremated. I still have his birthday invitation hanging on my wall and I shall leave it hanging for a whole year in memory of my dear friend Leo.

May his soul rest in peace.

Iran and the acquistion of uranium and the nuclear bomb

I often wonder why we have leaders who have the abiltiy to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities and are doing nothing about it. Iran being a fundamental Islamic state and the way they conduct themsleves with their hatred of the West under disguise of their religion, will initially acquire these dangerous weapon as a means of self-defense. So they will tell everyone who cares to listen.

In reality, they will use these weapons in an aggressive manner against their West and their little enemies around their state. I wonder why the IAEA is so weak when it should be strong. Why create such an ineffectual body? It is just a waste of time and energy.

When the West discovered atomic weapons, they gave human kind the mandate that they will control the acquisiton of nuclear weapon so that rogue and irresponsible states like Iran, NK will never acquire such dangerous weapons.

They have now failed human kind.

All means necesasry should be used to STOP Iran from acquiring these weapon under what ever guise they may be, whether it be water or energy.

You might as well kiss us all goodbye if you fail in this endeavour. It might not be us, but definelt our great-grandchildren.

John Johnson dies

While I am not denying the great things Johnson publishing has done for the black race in america by bringing them to the forefront with his postivie potrayal of them, I often wonder about the man himself: John Johnson.

In my bid to pay the man his last repsect, I often wondered why he had only one child, and not try for another. It is quiet strange for anafrican america to just have one child and stick to one, if moreso, that such a child is female.

The are many theories here. It coukd be that the lady was an adopted child, her mother might have suffered post-natal depression and decided against having more children.

She could have fathered the child outside of the marriage, these was way before IVF treatment. The daughter look very much like the father, and the father might abhor having any more kids, due to the hassles he might have gone through with the first. While he could easily afford to have had more kids, he decided to be married to his career. He did a great job of that wedding.
No matter the situation, the sole beneficiary has proven to be worthy of the the inheritance the publsihing giant left behind. He left his mark and those he left behind are happy of the way he lived.

May his soul rest in peace.

21:20 ...time just ticks away

I have come to exist within your space. My flat in stratford was suppose to go to the council today for 650 a month. Some estate agencies were offering 750. that is 100 pounds more. For the live of the mortgages that is an additional £30,000.

Properties are like printing money.
